What is the Functional Skills English Level 2 Online Exam?
It’s basically an English exam that is taken when you, for whatever reason, were unable to receive at least a C/4 grade in English GCSE. It consists of 3 sections, all of which can be taken from the comfort of your own home. So there is no traveling required to take the exam!

The Full Exam Process
Don’t worry about booking and taking the exam itself! It’s very simple!
First you select the date/time in which you want to take your exam with us. Next you prepare for the exam, we have multiple resources to help with this, as shown below:
Then on the day you chose for your exam, you will receive an email from your invigilator, who will invite you to join the Zoom Meeting. Once you have joined you will go through a checklist with the invigilator to ensure that you are taking the exam in exam conditions. (The exam boards are very strict about this!)
Next once the exam is completed, you will have to wait until the exam is marked and checked before you receive your results. If you pass you will receive a Functional Skills qualification and certificate!

The Exam
The exam itself consist of 3 parts;
The Reading Exam: This section is 1 hour and relies heavily on your reading comprehension skills. You will answer questions based on 3 different articles to show that you can read and understand the information presented to you.
The Writing Exam: This section is also 1 hour and is taken alongside the Reading section. It will be marked based on your spelling, punctuation, and grammar and consist of 2 situational questions. As well as your sentences and paragraph structure, and your ability to write effectively and the clarity of your writing.
The Speaking, Listening and Communication Exam (SLC): This section is only 30 minutes long and is where you will produce a presentation, then will present it to the examiner and a group of people. The marks will come from the clarity of the presentation and the effectiveness of how you have presented it. As well as how you go about communicating with the examiner and the other people.
The Qualification
When you have sat your exam, you will have to wait for a couple of days/weeks for your results. Once they have arrived and you have passed your English exam, you will receive your qualification!
