How to get maths GCSE quickly
At Functional Skills Level 2, we provide support for student’s academic ventures. We frequently get asked if there is a way to get a maths GCSE quickly. There are ways to do this, but it isn’t as straightforward as just sitting the exam. In this post we’re going to compare a few of the options that are available.
For the standard GCSE there are two exam periods when the exams can be sat, in November and May/June. There are 3 papers in total which all must be sat in a registered exam centre. Everyone in the country sits the exam at the same time, so dates and times are set and can’t be changed. Anyone sitting the exam must travel to the exam centre on a separate day for each paper. The issue here for a lot of adult learners is that they either can’t get to an exam centre or aren’t able to make it on the specified days. Instead, we suggest functional skills maths level 2. This qualification is great for any learner who needs extra flexibility as you can book a date and time that you know works for you. There is also no need to travel as the exam is fully online and can be sat at your home. The exam is still sat under exam conditions, and so is accepted by universities and employers as an equivalent to a grade C at GCSE. Results for functional skills also are received quicker in a few days, whereas GCSEs are paper based and so take around 6 weeks. The other option you can consider are GCSE equivalency tests, but these are more specific to teacher training and so aren’t as widely accepted.
How to get a maths GCSE quickly can depend on how quick you need results and the time of year. Functional skills tend to be the most popular options due to the whole process being a lot quicker and a lot more flexible. If you have any questions or need support, contact us today.
