What are functional skills? In essence, they are the equivalent to a GCSE qualification at a passing grade (grade C or 4) in either Maths or English. Used by people of all ages to get into their chosen University, apprenticeship course, or desired job. The qualification itself is widely accepted across England. So you can be assured that you will be able to use your qualification to help reach your goals. To guarantee this, Pass Functional Skills works alongside 3 major exam boards, these being City & Guilds, NCFE, and Open Awards.

The exams are designed to be convenient for everyone. Allowing you to take the exam from the comfort of your own home. So there will be no need to travel anywhere to take the exam. It is also faster than just retaking the normal GCSE, as that can take around 2 years. Meanwhile a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification can be completed within a month. Very useful when you have a deadline to hand the qualification in.

What are functional skills level 2 pass mark?

This varies between the different papers, as well as exam boards. But in general is around 50% to 60%. Note that since the qualification is a simple pass or fail one, you won’t be required to get very high marks.

Do Universities accept level 2 functional skills?

Yes, all major University providers in England will accept a Functional Skills qualification.

Are functional skills easier than GCSE?

Yes, in general, they are slightly easier due to being limited to a C. They also benefit from having not as much content to cover due to this.
